Happy New Year! 1

Dec31

We are a few minutes from leaving for Indianapolis to spend New Year’s with my side of the family. I’m looking forward to seeing my brother from North Carolina as well as my parents and my older brother and his family. And I’m hoping that the lake effect snow that is predicted for our area won’t be a problem as we return home Friday night!

I want to wish all of you a blessed New Year and trust that all of us will continue pursuing God and becoming more like Jesus in 2010. I know I have a long ways to go, but with the Spirit’s help, I pray that the image of Christ will be increasingly reflected in my life.  As Paul wrote in Philippians 1:11, “May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation – the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ – for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

Hi Tim! You will have to excuse my tardiness in getting this message to you, but I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Christmas Eve service….especially the communion part. I was raised a pretty strict Catholic, and while I have left the Catholic church and found River Oaks (which I dearly love) I always missed the personal time with God/reflection during communion that the Catholic Mass offered. I soooo enjoyed taking my communion on Christmas Eve and kneeling in front of the cross with my family. That quiet time (well as quiet as it can be with a 4 year old and 2 year old at my feet) was precious to me. Thank you….for allowing us all to have that moment of silence in the church we love at a time that could not be more important!!

    Jamie
